As rookie head coach Hue Jackson begins his coaching career with the Oakland Raiders, many believe that the often energetic coach has a good chance of bringing the Raiders back to the playoffs. Hue Jackson has been very adamant about the fact that he wants to be coaching the best team in the Bay Area and as Raider fans watch him take over the team, they feel confident that he can turn this franchise around. The team is currently 2-2 and have shown amazing progress. Hue Jackson is best known for his out spoken way of coaching and he is very visual on the sidelines. He was “trained” by Jon Gruden, ex Raider coach, and he believes that Jackson has what it takes to be a good coach in the league.
Though Hue Jackson is a rookie coach, he definitely has a lot of experience on the field as he has been on the sidelines for almost 13 years now before he was given the opportunity to coach the Raiders. He started off coaching for Pacific college in 1987 before he became the running back coach for the Washington Redskins in 2001. In 2003, he then became the Redkins offensive coordinator where he was known to be very tactical with the team’s system. He then went on to be the wide receivers coach for the Cincinnati Bengals, the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons and the quarterbacks coach for the Baltimore Ravens before the Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis gave him the chance to become a head coach.
The Raiders have been a struggling team for a few years now and the fans are definitely hoping for a change. The Raiders haven’t won a Superbowl for almost 20 years now and the team’s last visit to the big game in 2002 was a disappointment. Hue Jackson plans to utilize all the pieces he currently has to help turn this team around and bring them back to the Superbowl. Though many wonder why he has moved from city to city, he has stated that he has been able to learn from all the different teams and it has definitely made him ready for this moment. Jackson is now the main man behind the Raiders drive back to the Superbowl and he is hoping that quarterback Kyle Boller and running back Darren Mcfadden can help him along the way.
The team is currently going through more intense training as this is one of the assets that Hue Jackson brings to a team. He is an in your face coach that is best known for his aggressive approach to the game. Hue Jackson is very positive about this season as he is reassuring Raider fans that this is the year. “It’s time to take the next step,” Jackson says. “The time is now. People say we’re two players away, three players away – no, I’m preaching now.” Even though star cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha left for the Eagles, he believes the team still has enough pieces to make noise in the NFL. With Hue Jackson leading this team, I have complete confidence that buying Raiders tickets will be a safe investment this year.
